We recently returned from a retreat in the Sierra mountains, nestled in the Northern California terrain. The secluded expedition saw escapism into the mountains and immersion in the very thing that grounds us, nature...Read More
While I watch a marathon of touching Hallmark Christmas movies in anticipation for my family to wake up, I thought it would be the perfect time to share some holiday tunes with you kind folks...Read More
Because booking 6am flights with a 2am wake-up call is a sensible way to travel, I am now sleep deprived, delirious, confused and slightly hungry. Alas, words are failing me now, so I will use the power of song to adequately describe my mood. Thankfully this past week has been filled with an abundance of slow-moving, moody and hearty songs - which so perfectly describe my current state...Read More
Planes, trains, automobiles. They're all familiar to us and part of our (dare I say), lifestyle. This trip back to my home in Northern California has brought me back to my roots and introduced me to nature and the folk and Americana music that so appropriately complements it. As I head back to my new home in New York, I've created a playlist to keep me company on the plane. A compilation of music I've been listening to all month, whether that be from the Redwoods in Santa Cruz or the gritty streets of Brooklyn...Read More
I think the reason I'm drawn to female fronted acts is because the (super subdued) rock goddess in me is fighting to live vicariously through these leading ladies. Some are old favorites and others, new finds, but all of them, regardless of genre, know how to own a mic, command a stage and move a crowd...Read More
Valentine's Day. *sigh*. The day every couple becomes more couple-y, every singleton is more obviously single, the heartbroken weep, the lovebirds flutter...Read More
We'll make this short and sweet (as I know you all must be utterly exhausted by everyone's 'end of year' conclusive statements...Read More
Willow Wood are scattered all over the place this holiday season - but for most of us, it's the perfect time of year to be rugging up in knitwear, eating comfort food, making mulled wine and breathing in the smell of woodfire.
If you're also in the northern hemisphere - cozy on up next to your fire, grab your favorite warm beverage and listen. These songs are your perfect accompaniment to the Winter weather.
The annual CMJ Music Marathon in NYC was the single event that spawned our inspiration to head out onto the road on our US-wide 'Musical Pilgrimage.'
The event was filled with an overwhelming amount of incredible talent. Unsigned and signed, this is a playlist compiled of our personal highlights.

We are kinda a little bit (ok a lotta bit) excited to be heading up to Monterey this weekend for First City Festival. It's only the festival's first year and it has already managed to rack up an amazing line-up. We're personally hoping the Monterey fairgrounds will be a small area, because unless either of us manage to clone ourselves or obtain some sort of super powers within the next 48 hours, there is no way we're going to manage to see everyone we want to see, and trust me, that's almost everyone...Read More
Overall it was an incredible weekend of good music, wonderful new friends and great musical discovery. Whether it was a band/artist we actually saw, one that was on the line-up that we were 'too busy' to see, or someone that one of our new friend's recommended to us, everything was filled with soul and got to us in some way or other.
