Our favourite Australian KWEEN Ngaiire never ceases to amaze with her spectacular set of pipes. This song may have come out at the end of last year, but it's one we still can't get out of our heads.
Born in Papua New Guinea and now basing herself out of my home town Sydney, Ngaiire has been building herself a following since collaborating with Hiatus Kaiyote's Nai Palm, and really grabbed the Australian nation's attention when she covered Tame Imapala's "The Less I Know The Better" on Triple J's Like A Version.
We were lucky enough to see her live when she performed at the Aussie BBQ during CMJ in New York at the end of last year and were utterly blown away by her performance. She was the highlight of the day for us, looping her voice and dancing around on the small stage, a vision in glitter, joking around with her band.
This song "Once" is a slow-burner. Its the sort of jam we want to dance and sing in the shower to, and encourage you to as well.
