My housemate and I got home from a relaxing day in the sunshine on Sunday afternoon, both incredibly reluctant to sit inside the studio and do work on what is meant to be our day of rest. After a brief discussion about what kind of music we should play to brighten our spirits, and possibly make us feel like we were still weekending and not working, we settled on the fact that you can't go wrong with the classics. We only got half way through a Van Morrison album before I had to interrupt it when someone on my Facebook feed reminded me about Amason. Luckily, my housemate is accommodating to my sporadic musical changes.
We hadn't heard much from this Stockholm supergroup since they released "Went To War" and their self-titled EP almost a year ago. On Sunday, I treated my ears to "Parachutes" and "Chicago", silently wishing there was more.
Today, my prayers (or wishes) have been answered. Literally as I write this (or a few hours ago according to Soundcloud) they released their new single "Duvan" as well as announcing their first trip to the US this fall, including a spot playing at KEXP's showcase at The CMJ Music Marathon on October 22nd.
We'll look forward to seeing them live in October, and if you happen to be in New York for CMJ or in LA on the 3rd of November (where they play The Echo), you should too!
