On my recent quest to discover everything there is to know and see here in San Francisco, I have made a lot of lists. Things to do, food to eat, places to drink, the city's best karaoke bars, hills to climb, as well as all the usual touristy stuff I haven't quite managed to fit in during my past visits. One of these lists is San Francisco-based bands and musicians – rest assured I plan to write about as many local bands as I can possibly stumble across while I am temporarily based here.
City Tribe are a local indie/rock/folk band that for me have captured the warmth of a Californian summer, without falling in to the typical indie-pop or surf-rock genre that i'd normally associate with the sunshine state. (Note – I'm fairly sure before I ever visited, I thought everyone drove around with surfboards on the roof of their jeeps whistling The Beach Boys)
Their song "Silver Lining" is premiering now on Pop Matters, and their upcoming album Undertow is due out on the 12th August.
