Iceage: The Lord's Favorite
"After all I think it's evident that I am god's favorite one, And now is the time I should have whatever I desire." From the moment I heard these sarcastic and sassy lyrics, it was evident that this song agreed with me. The hard-hitting rockabilly "The Lord's Favorite" is the newest release from Danish punk rockers, Iceage.
They have been busy touring all year, but have somehow still managed to work on new material. This track offers insight into the new soundscapes they're exploring -- still staying true to their signature fuzz, but adding a tone of alt-country in this particular song.
Champagne, leather jackets, bikers and sensual kisses; the video is a mirrored image to what you would expect from this playful track. Elias Bender Rønnenfelt carries the attitude and cheek of a young Caleb Followill, the version we fell in love with circa 2004. (Sidenote, that short Caleb trip down memory lane, turned into an hour long nostalgic trip).
While their next album may be "coming soon," the Danes have announced an extensive North-American tour, kicking off on August 15.
