Isaac Delusion: She Pretends
"Midnight Sun" is a go to song for those moments when the sun is just parting the sky and you have a long road ahead of you. Friday night we headed away from the LA traffic and into the soothing canyons of Ojai for a weekend of clarity (from the madness that is house hunting in a major city).
If anyone has ever been lucky enough to accompany me on my several road-trips, they know that Nicola’s permanent shot-gun role includes the duties of DJ. As it was 85 degrees, 9pm and the smells and sounds of nature were just starting to settle in, I had but one request for DJ Lyon – “Isaac Delusion dreamy vocal time please.” Expecting to hear the same tracks on repeat… I was pleasantly surprised when new material came across my blown out speakers.
“She Pretends” starts off with a soothing guitar riff as Loic Fleury’s entrancing vocals slowly make their appearance. The beat is subdued and light – just enough to complement his signature falsetto; a feature that makes their sound so effortlessly calming and comforting. Imagine snuggling up to your favorite warm and cozy blanket, which regardless of your day’s events, transports you to dreamy land far, far away – that’s the feeling you’ll have when listening to this transfixing track.
The Parisian duo will be releasing their debut album on June 2 via Cracki Records.
Whether it be pulling in to NOLA on a Megabus at 11pm, approaching the Brooklyn Bridge in an auto drive-away at 4am, ride-sharing into Paris on a brisk December morning or running away from the LA lights and into the canyons at night… it seems as if Isaac is always there with me during these rather anthemic moments. Calling this band my ‘right-hand man’ would not be far fetched.
It appears that my ‘Delusion listening hours’ accurately depict the themes of previous EP’s named Midnight Sun and Early Morning. Bring on the new album so that more midnight and early morning memories can be created (and shared on here for your entertainment purposes).
