Frànçois and The Atlas Mountains: The Way To The Forest
Let's begin by addressing the important foliage matters at hand; This song is called "The Way To The Forest" and stars none other than Elijah Wood. To bring this full circle, their 2014 album Piano Ombre was recorded live in an old wooden hall. Here at the Willow Wood HQ, we find any excuse to promote other bands who share our aesthetic and love for all things wooden...
Frànçois and The Atlas Mountains first caught my attention after a long and late-night Isaac Delusion vortex of research. Somewhere in the midnight abyss, I was introduced to this Bristol-based, French four-piece.
Their 2014 release, Piano Ombre features an array of eclectic arrangements ranging from Tropicali to afro-beat with a touch of dark and ominous undertones and obscure and tranquil instrumentation all served up alongside gentle vocals; their music is a beautiful melting pot of different cultures, sounds and influences. Lead vocalist, Frànçois Marry also lends his talents to Camera Obscura - another band known for creating nostalgic and lighthearted music.
"The Way To The Forest" is a playful track heavy on African percussion and kaleidoscope-psychedelia and light and atmospheric on vocals. This is a fitting song to accompany your next summer adventure (perfect for our upcoming 15-hr road-trip to Bonnaroo this afternoon)...
