Doja Cat: So High
House hunting in Los Angeles is nothing short of a complete nightmare. Lucky for us, out of every seemingly ridiculous or terrible situation, comes something wonderful and worthwhile.
We met Doja Cat one night in Los Angeles after a strange series of events. Bumping in to her business manager at a house viewing in Echo Park was not something we had particularly expected to happen, yet we found ourselves a few nights later, in a cute european-style restaurant with a few glasses of red wine, sitting across from this petite young prodigy. She told us about her music and inspirations, before excitedly flitting off to the studio like some sort of mythical creature, with flowers in her hair, to work on an idea for a song that had just 'popped' in to her head.
Doja Cat's sound is soulful, sultry, and sensual. "So High" kind of does everything to you that you expect from a song by that name... The concept of feeling high or out of your mind because of a boy is one that is easily relatable. The pairing of this with the visuals of her sitting in her lotus throne, covered in body paint and dressed as a goddess are all somewhat entrancing.
She's so high... like Cleopatra, Joan of Arc or Aphrodite (casual 90s reference).
