Emily King: Radio
Okay, so by now if you've followed my posts, you'll know I have an addictive personality, one that drives me to watch all the YouTube interviews of celebrities I admire, to pour over their Instagram pics, to learn their dance routines, to buy their nail decals...
Anyway, this addictive personality led me to 10 continuous plays of Emily King's track "Radio" off her 2011 EP Seven this morning. Now I'm going to say something that I kind of want to kick myself for, but this is so meta (ugh). I could tell you I love music all damn day, but Miss King sings it so much better. After all, the song is about finding that resonance in music as one would in religion. She writes that Hendrix, Marley and Aretha are some of the music gods she turns to, and I can't wait 'til someone similarly mentions her in a song of their own.
You must, must, must check out the EP as well as her new track "Distance" released earlier this year. Everything is absolute fire.
