Dana Williams: Keep Me Waiting
Well here we are again, it's roughly 11pm and while reading a review of my friend's band, I was happily introduced to Miss Dana Williams.
Soulful lyricist, brooding vocalist, true artist; all descriptive words to merely touch on the talent of this young lady. Dana is an American singer, songwriter, musician and poet. Having spent time in New York and graduating from Sarah Lawrence College, she now calls Los Angeles home. Her father, the late David Williams, was a noteworthy musician aligning him next to the likes of Michael Jackson, Madonna and Whitney Houston, to name a few.
As a result, music was an every present and influential part of Dana's upbringing. One can infer that her father's musicianship led her to create work evocative of soul, passion and heart.
Dana's musical talents know no boundaries. She in an artist of variety, a commending quality which I feel, is quite rare to find. She adds flavor to anything from a blues/americana tune (Shovels and Rope), a shoe-gazzy pop track (Lana Del Rey) or a folk ballad (Band of Horses).
Although, if we are being honest here, I feel that Dana Williams is the master of her own craft; writing and creating her own originals. "Keep Me Waiting" is a beautiful and ethereal bluesy ballad, one worthy of your attention. The video is simple, elegant and an ode to the beauty of nature.
Dana has been making quite a splash on the West Coast, watch out for her to come to your neighborhood next...
Until then, keep yourself occupied with her Soundcloud.
