[PLAYLIST] Liquid Voices
Valentine's Day. *sigh*. The day every couple becomes more couple-y, every singleton is more obviously single, the heartbroken weep, the lovebirds flutter. Someone you know is going to get in to a heated debate about it being a 'commercial' holiday owned by Hallmark, your mum is going to repeatedly ask you if you have a valentine this year (no mum, stop trying to marry me off), your Facebook feed will be filled with engagement rings, and your friend who tells you she's "not bothered" about Valentine's day will call you at 2am, drunk, bawling her eyes out, asking you why she is always alone (this is why honey).
Because all the previously mentioned things sound so awful, we've decided to focus on something else, and create a playlist featuring the most liquid of voices; those sultry and smooth, those thin, high falsettos. Why? Well the anniversary of Saint Valentine's death has long been celebrated as a day for courtly love. Courtney Love? No. COURTLY LOVE. Read about it if you can be bothered, but we choose to interpret this in the form of... well... baby-making music (without the babies).
This one goes out to your first love, so long ago that you can barely remember, the ones in between that you choose to forget, those ones you regret. The one who waited for you but you never came back, the one who broke your heart and all the ones who's hearts you broke in return. To that one you are still pathetically and hopelessly in love with, and to those that you never really loved at all.
And hey, what's a corny Valentine's playlist without a bit of Prince thrown in there (Nope, we're not even sorry).
