TOUR DIARY [December]
The past weeks have been a whirlwind to say the least. We packed up our bags from the Greenpoint loft we came to know as home and headed for the concrete hills of gentrification and "affordability'' in Bushwick.
To say that we prepared for the holiday season, would be an understatement. Last week was one all-encompassing holiday party. For someone who has never had a personal work holiday party to attend, it was more than made up for with a staggering 5+ in one week; more of a marathon if you will.
SXSW planning, set design and party schmoozing were in full effect. Our Holiday Bazaar came and went as quickly as the past six months spent in New York.
The time was 1am and the state of mind was delusion. (not to be confused with Isaac). We headed home to begin packing for what was a 6am flight for Lauren out of JFK. Nothing like a little lastminute.com to freshen things up.
The 3am departure for Lauren turned into a 4:45 delayed wake-up and a frantic rush to the airport (appropriately and attractively dressed in head-to-toe pajamas). Pugs and parentals were present at the California airport and just to cram more in, the Griswolds-esque Christmas tree was cut down on the way home. (yes, three people had to assist with securing it to the car).
The lush redwood trees provided a fresh reminder that home was near. The first proper night's sleep in three days proved to be miraculous when the morning brought the birth of D'angelo's Black Messiah.
As Lauren becomes one with the Northern California woods once again, Nicola will spend the next couple of months rediscovering her inner-Australian bogan. Equally as cosmic in their own rights.
With the combination of a fresh environment, snowfall and resurgence of good people, New York has charmed us all over again. Therefore, we would like to share the news with you... that come the new year, we will be returning to New York (for at least 6 months) to set up shop and call it "home". Don't fret, travel will still be at the forefront of our priorities, only this time we will have a home base for once.
We figured it would be rude to keep these updates from you...
