[SESSION] Syd Arthur in Joshua Tree
There are some things that happen with ease, and others that well, don't. Earlier this year, we hopped in the jeep and drove from the Northern California redwoods to the desert plains of Joshua Tree. To say that obstacles were thrown our way, would simply be an understatement.
We were visiting Los Angeles around the time of Coachella and had thought this was a great opportunity to film a session with UK band Syd Arthur out at their gorgeous vacation rental out in Joshua Tree National Park. The equipment was hired, crew was acquired and not much was left but to drive out to the desert in the morning and capture the footage. Just to make sure we were paying attention, a curve ball was thrown our way last minute... involving budget constraints from our partner. There was absolutely no way we weren't going to make this happen.
Luckily, Temples' kind manager had given us Coachella passes, which we then made a last-minute panic move to use as collateral to pay our crew. Craigslist adverts were created, desperate responses were answered and questionable parking lot exchanges were made.
After a mild heart attack, we caravanned out of the LA haze and into the openness of the desert. Joshua Trees and dusty roads surrounded our views before arriving at a picturesque mansion sitting atop a mountain (overlooking the entire National Park).
Here's how it went...
