[PHOTO DIARY] CMJ 2014
The CMJ Music Marathon is an experience that is hard to explain in words. A week of musical showcases that take over the Lower East Side of Manhattan, and other parts of New York City, where up-and-coming artists come from all over the world to play shows back-on-back in front of crowds of industry professionals. You can only really truly understand the madness if you've attended yourself, but we will attempt to share our experiences with you in photo format.

Lauren and I spent most of the week and weekend running around trying to catch as many artists as we possibly could. Here's the festival through our eyes, featuring the following artists: Bo Ningen, Dune Rats, Ernest Ellis, Howard, Dev Hynes, Kindness, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Moses Sumney, Odessa, Oscar, Spring King, White Fence.
We sent Brooklyn photographer Alex Christopher Williams to cover a bunch of shows, he attended some of the more DIY shows over in Brooklyn, and caught some of the more raw and gritty musical acts of the week. Artists featured here include: Adult Jazz, Moses Sumney, Young Buffalo, Pity Sex, Inter Arma, The World Is A Beautiful Place And I Am No Longer Afraid To Die, Modern Vices, YAWN, Xerxes, Run Forever, Aviator.
Bushwick videographer/photographer/film maker Ryan Winsor also shot a selection of shows during the week. Here's who he saw:
