Howard: Song About Something
It was an Indian Summer day, I was getting ready to board a flight across the Country and Howard's "Song About Something" was sent to me. Freshly baked from the recording studio. I remember my reaction upon first hearing the song, probably because it remained on repeat throughout my entire flight; I was spellbound and heart-warmed. Howard Feibusch's vocals are warm and profound, hearty at points yet soft at others. There are obvious hints of Radiohead fused with folk - creating the perfect marriage, a blend best described by the band as "folk-tronica".
"Song About Something" is the first single off their forthcoming debut Religion. The gorgeously crafted song makes a powerful entrance, one that separates them from their musical past as Orange Television.
Maybe it's because this song will forever remind me of departing the autumnal streets of Greenpoint and arriving in the lush redwood groves of Northern California, but regardless of the reasoning, this is an infectious and beautifully composed song. A song which contains intricacies and production techniques that seem to unravel the more times it absorbs into your ears. As an avid lister, I would know...
