Amason: Went To War
Amason are a Stockholm-based 'supergroup' made up of Gustav Ejstes (Dungen), Amanda Hollingby Matsson (Idiot Wind), Nils Törnqvist, Petter Winnberg (Little Majorette) and Pontus Winnberg (Miike Snow).
These Swedish sweethearts are part of the artist collective/label INGRID, home to David Lynch as well as another brand new discovery for me, Tussilago (definitely give these guys a listen too). "Went To War" received some spins on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic last year, as did their second song "Älgen" which was named 'Today's Top Tune' on December 5th.
Now, I don't speak Swedish, but this is what Google Translate (probably the most inaccurate source I could possibly decide to use) tells me their Facebook page says:
"One day it happened. When I looked out the window sat grandpa in his car waiting for me. He had a pirate costume wearing."
There really isn't much else to tell you about this new project, except they sound nice. And nice is good. In fact 'nice' and 'good' are probably both gross understatements.
