Vance Joy: Riptide
Any artist billed as an "artist you should know" by KCRW, is an artist worth at least checking out. One of the many benefits of living in Santa Barbara, is its accessibility to the KCRW airwaves. Jason Bentley’s, Morning Becomes Eclectic has instantly become one of my favorite radio shows; endlessly providing fresh and new music introductions. Vance Joy is one of the newest musical additions to joint Jason's sets - and on heavy rotation, might I add.
Jason Bentley has clout, famously recognized for predicting the successes of the Lumineers, Mumford and Sons and Of Monsters and Men. He describes Vance Joy as "the next smash.” If that wasn't enough to grab our interest, Beablemusic have jumped onboard in singing the praises of Joy's musical talent. The track "Riptide" is so infectious, that it earned him a deal with Atlantic. Vance is an Australian musician, currently residing in Melbourne. He has toured with the likes of Julia Stone, Of Monsters and Men and Lissie; in August he will be embarking on the 'Riptide Tour' [which is already selling out dates].
Fun facts: Within hours of uploading to Soundcloud, ''Riptide'' hit #1 on Hype Machine’s Most Popular Chart. Triple J quickly got on board, and soon after ‘Riptide’ had worked its way up the iTunes Singles Chart and the ARIA Streaming Chart, where it reached #12.
His EP 'God Loves You When You're Dancing' is available for only $10 AUD here.
We suggest that you now jump on our bandwagon and keep your radar on Vance.
