MØ seems to be the best new thing since, well...sliced bread. She is all over the internetz, magazines and hipster radar - after suppressing the hype, I gave in an listened to her. Guess what, she is actually worthy of the buzz. MØ is the alter ego of Karen Marie Ørsted. She is being praised as the Danish Grimes. The comparison is best described by The Guardian:
"MØ, is being touted as the new Grimes, which is going to annoy the old Grimes something rotten, because old Grimes has only just stopped being touted as the new – well, what? Who was her predecessor? And who was her forebear's forebear? Who is the godmother of the current generation of women with synths, the Nite Jewels, Laurel Halos and Maria Minervas? Is it Claudia Brücken of Propaganda? Björk? Kate Bush?"
In case you did not get the memo, MØ is kind of the new Grimes. I hear similarities of Purity Ring and Gwen Stefani [if we are still playing the comparisons game].
The Track, "Glass" showcases her raw vocal abilities -- her voice is rich and soulful. What I like about this track in particular is the parallels of her under-produced voice against the over-produced backing sounds.
Wait, did you know that she is being compared to Grimes?!
