The Postal Service: A Tattered Line Of String
Ok, so it's not a new song, and they aren't recording new material. In fact some people could claim The Postal Service are really cashing in on their 2003 debut album 'Give Up'. Releasing a 10-year anniversary version? With 15 'rare' tracks and two new ones featuring Jenny Lewis (Rilo Kiley)? Yeah it's probably pushing it, but fans have lapped it up.
Sub Pop Records have just released this new video for the song 'A Tattered Line of String'. It's one of the songs that didn't quite make their album 10 years ago, and they released earlier this year when they 'reunited'. Waste not, Want not... right?
They're currently touring around the States, and even though you'd think they would get sick of playing the same selection of songs a whole decade later, there is something delightfully nostalgic about that album. As it was for me when I saw them at Coachella earlier this year, I'm sure most people never expected to see any of those songs performed live again, it was an album of the past. I'm not sure whether it's more because of the dedicated cult following this band has, or because people (like me) enjoy re-living their teenage years, but there is something about 'Give Up' that remains an album of our generation.
