Whitehorse: I'm On Fire (The Boss cover)
Husband and wife duo, Luke Doucet and Melissa McClelland are the musical masterminds behind Whitehorse.
These Canadian crooners first caught my attention while I was perusing Daytrotter. Five seconds into "Radiator Blues" and I was instantly infatuated with Doucet and McClelland. Their effortless ability to compose raw and honest songs is the very facet that makes them cool [Daytrotter agrees].
Melissa's vocals are sultry yet sweet. The lyrics are dark yet airy. It is Luke's guitar twang that sets the mood for this band - folk meets Nashville and Austin twang. It's all a good thing.
Not many people can mess with the Boss' songs, although their rendition of his "I'm on Fire" is one exception. Their album, 'The Fate of the World Depends on this Kiss' is available via Six Shooter Records.
