Father John Misty: Funtimes In Babylon
Seattle folk-rocker J. Tillman, better known as Father John Misty, has been mighty busy since leaving the Fleet Foxes in early 2012. Somewhere in between touring, playing at festivals, and launching his own perfume called 'Innocence' (I can't help but think this is somewhat ridiculous?!), he's released a new music video for 'Funtimes In Babylon'.
The video matches his musical style perfectly. It starts off curious and slightly bleak, with Tillman wandering through what appears to be a post-apocalyptic world, climbing through the wreckage, possibly searching for something. Towards the end he decides to show off his dance moves, something he is well known for flaunting on stage, before the whole thing is exposed as a movie set/backlot tour.
I couldn't think of any better way to showcase his dry wit and lyrical humour as expressed through his mischievous persona 'Misty', than this seemingly morbid but eventually humorous visual feast.
