We Are The Willows: Places
I'm meant to be job hunting right now, but it seems whenever I go on the internet I get swept off in some fast-flowing stream of new musical discoveries. I guess it's not a bad thing...
I've just stumbled across Minneapolis band We Are The Willows. Now, call me biased, but they have a pretty good name, right? Equally as good is their orchestral, indie-rock sound. The band started out as a solo project of singer/songwriter, Peter Michael Miller and has now expanded to a full six piece band. It's not often you come across a band with violin and cello in the mix, and the band works it in with vocal harmonies, subtle drums and bass. They blend folk, pop, rock and a variety of genres in to their music, and I'd liken them to bands such as Camera Obscura, Belle & Sebastian, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and similar.
Have a listen to their album 'Places' here, particularly the first track 'Santa Fe'.
