Sounds of the South at the Sydney Opera House
If you are lucky enough to be in Sydney and have a spare $60 or so floating around, then you're in for a treat.
On the 1st and 2nd of June, vivid LIVE will be paying homage to legendary folklorist Alan Lomax. In 1959, Lomax ventured on a two-month musical journey from the Georgia Sea Islands to the Mississippi Delta recording hymns, blues and folk music he discovered along the way. The recordings were entitled 'Songs of the South' and now a whole decade later, a new generation of songwriters are joining forces to pay tribute to what has been referred to as a 'lifechanging songbook'.
Presented by Megafaun (Phil Cook of The Shouting Matches) and Fight the Big Bull, featuring Justin Vernon (Bon Iver & The Shouting Matches) Frazey Ford (The Be Good Tanyas). This Australian premier exclusive is sure to be one captivating concert, and if you've ever been lucky enough to see a show in the Opera House's concert hall before, you'll know how well the space will lend itself to something as epic as this.
