IS TROPICAL: I'm Leaving
'Dancing Anymore' is the first single off London trio IS TROPICAL's new album 'I'm Leaving'. Released yesterday on french label Kitsuné, the album was produced by Luke Smith (think Foals and Depeche Mode) in Flesh and Bone Studios, London.
Before we get in to the music, I'd um... like to discuss the video. I guess it could only be described as a young boy's wet dreams, and after getting over the initial shock/surprise, I guess I was overwhelmed with relief that my friend's parents (who's house I'm currently staying at) didn't notice me casually watching mild porn in the corner.
The boys tend not to take themselves too seriously, which is reflected not only in the video but in their music; which they describe as "bass heavy, beat driven, pop-influenced lo-fi dance music". Having said that, this album is notably more sophisticated and complex than their debut album 'Native To', having successfully fused together fresh poppy tunes with grimey late-night club beats.
