Givers: Up Up Up
Before we get to the music, I have several questions to be addressed about this video...mainly concerning the following: the awkward guy with the fro (and the girl trying to "dance" with him for that matter), the male lead singer's facial expressions, the two randoms banging the pots and pans, the questionable dance moves...and the really pressing question at hand here is - I used to live in an uber hipster converted warehouse in London, why is it that La Blogothèque never showed up with hip bands and random people for "secret shows?!"
Now that the important questions have been posed, we can focus on what is really going on here: Louisiana band, Givers playing a "secret show" an an uber hipster warehouse.
Givers are a band from Lafayette, Louisiana. Yes, this is classic indie-pop, but with Cajun and Zydeco flavor.
I prefer this performance as it showcases their true talent, which seems to be muffled in some of their over-produced album recordings. Their sound draws on similarities from fellow Louisiana natives, Royal Teeth.
Tiffany's first day job was signing in the Baptist choir at church; as a result, her voice is evocative of a soulful woman beyond her years.
Givers know how to put on an engaging and entertaining live performance - churning out fun tracks is a strength of theirs as well. I see a future filled with many tv/commercial endorsements.
PS. anything Cajun and/or Zydeco, I have time for...
